About Us

Scarpino Shoes is a family owned business established in Toronto in the early 1980s. We are an exclusive, street savvy shoe store for ladies and men. We have adopted a unique selection of merchandise from all across Europe, selected by owner and buyer Maurice Toledano.

The first store that Maurice opened was the iconic “Twinkle Toes” at the south-east corner of Yonge and Bloor - the first retail store in Canada to sell Doc Martens. In the 1980s, with additional support from his siblings, other stores called "Twinkle Toes" and "Scarpino" were opened in various locations across the GTA. This included one of the very first shoe stores on Queen Street West, which at the time was an emerging neighbourhood of clubs and artists.

Maurice’s sister, Berthy became a co-partner in the store and has acted as a buyer and store manager for decades.

With big box stores and huge chains becoming the ‘norm,’ Scarpino at 311 Queen Street West can only be described as a resilient local gem. The owners have developed a personal and longstanding relationship with their clientele. People come from all over Canada and abroad to shop at Scarpino.
